FAQs

What does Porla & Pine mean?

Porla is Swedish for the burbling sound of water in a forest creek during spring; water being pure, gentle, and a strong force all at once.  Pine, a scent of evergreen; authentic and raw.

Porla & Pine came from a desire to create a virtual space where people can get back to center and find inner peace. A space without comparisons only a desire to feel good enough and to be real. All accompanied by dog.

Where is your accent from?

I brought it with me from Sweden, where I was born and raised.  I moved to the USA in my 20s.  You can read a bit more about me here.

Where are you located?

Aliso Viejo, Orange County, in Southern California.  I serve all of Orange County.

Does my dog have to be well-trained to do a photo session?

No worries – we welcome all dogs, shy or wild or anything in between.  Sure, it helps if your dog knows how to sit and stay, but most dogs are just regular, happy-go-lucky furry family members – no obedience champions needed.  What’s needed is a bag of secret tips and patience – and I bring both to every session.

Isn't it strange to do a whole photo session for my dog?

In our increasingly photo-driven world, most people have pet images scattered all over their house, fridge, and social media.  This is simply a chance to hire a real artist to transform your space with crisp, beautiful images that show all the beautiful detail of your beloved companion.

And have you ever tried to take a photo of your dog only to miss ‘that’ beloved cock of their head or adorable tail wag by mere seconds?  Or maybe you caught it – but the image was dark or blurry?  We can capture those exact expressions and preserve them as beautifully as you’d want for any other member of your family.

How am I going to find the time for this?

We like to think of our photo session much like scheduling a haircut, massage, or luxurious pedicure – only with gorgeous results that last much, much longer!  Yes, you do have to have an appointment and spend a little time explaining to the professional what you want, but oh man do they know how to make you look and feel great, so it’s worth the time, right?  It’s no different with this.

Between our short consultation, the session, and the photo reveal, most clients find that this doesn’t take longer than a few episodes of your favorite TV show – and you get to keep what you see forever.

Help, my dog has to be on a leash!

Whether your dog’s a natural sprinter like mine or more laid back, we’ll need to keep them all on a leash due to leash laws and safety.  The good news is: Thanks to the magic of photo retouching, leashes will be removed from the final images.

My dog is black - will you be able to get any nice photos?

Yes!  I’m able to capture amazingly clear images no matter what color your dog’s fur.  Photography is about lighting, and I use both natural and studio light to capture the detailed beauty of your dear companion.

Do you offer digital files?

Yes!  You’ll receive a complimentary photo app with images for your phone and social media, including any images that you order.  That way you can enjoy them everywhere you go, and post a few to watch the happy comments roll in.

If you want the ultimate flexibility for printing and sharing, digital packages are available for purchase as well.

What if I’m not happy with my images?

Your dog brings you immeasurable happiness – your images should, too!  If you’re not happy, we’re not happy. We proudly offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee – anything less and you’ll either receive a re-shoot or your money back.  We’ll make sure to make it right!

Can you photograph my cat, newborn, family, wedding…?

We specialize in dog photography, but our Hearth & Home photography package accommodates cats. We do not offer newborn, family, or wedding photography, but we’re happy to refer you to other photographers who will do excellent work.
